Fingernail Polish

I love doing my nails often and sometimes accidents can happen and nail polish can spill on your carpet. The best course of action is to act fast and trying to remove the stain before it dries. Sometimes you cannot get to the stain until it has already dried, so you may have to try more than one method to completely remove the nail polish stain. Remember to first test chemicals in an inconspicuous area to avoid damage to your carpet.

One method requires using a dull knife to scrape up the liquid or dry polish from the carpet and transfer to a paper towel. In a bowl place some acetone nail polish remover and blot using a white cloth, as the nail polish transfers to the cloth use a clean section to continue removing and avoid spreading. Always work your way from the outer edges to the center of the affected area and do not rub. Next, mix liquid dish detergent with warm water and wet another cloth to where it is damp and not dripping. Blot the affected area with the damp cloth, using a different section of it every time to remove as much nail polish. Then, spray the area with water and blot up the moisture with a dry cloth. Lastly, add peroxide into a spray bottle, spray area, and leave for 30 minutes. Use a white dry cloth and blot dry. Repeat this step until stain is removed.

Another procedure you can take is to begin by applying a solvent to the affected area. Next, agitate gently to work gel into deposit and then apply more solvent to cover area. Allow it to dwell for five minutes. Proceed by agitating solvent into area to fully dissolve and suspend deposit, followed by a Hot water extraction rinse. You then want to Use a white cloth to blot the area thoroughly. After blotting if stain still remains apply an oxidizer to the affected area only and cover with a lightweight terry cloth towel. Using a steam iron, apply heat set at low steam setting (mid range) in fifteen second intervals. Peek under towel to check progress periodically. You can remove steam when stain is gone, or if you notice that there is color loss. The stain should disappear one to three minutes of heat application.
