Stain Removal

Tape and texture compound

Removing tape and texture compound from your carpet has to be worked out of the carpet fibers, causing it to be time consuming for some, but it can be done successfully if you follow the directions correctly that are given in these two methods that you can use for such stains.

Begin by applying a small amount of solution to a section of the residue on your carpet. Try and keep your section less than 12 inches. It is a good idea to work in small lengths along the line of the deposit. You must then work the solution into the carpet to loosen up the deposit. Use rubber gloves and gently agitate (Make sure to only moisten the top of the carpet fibers. You want to avoid the solution soaking into the carpet backing. This will cause the glue that holds the carpet together to dissolve). Next, use a clean white towel and blot the area. Continue to blot the area with clean parts of the towel until all the deposit has been removed. Continue to the next section of the carpet that has been affected and repeat the process. Once the deposit has been completely removed from your carpet, you must move on to removing the solution. Mix liquid dish detergent and warm water, use a clean white cloth dampen with the water and soap mixture and blot the area until all the solution is gone. Lastly, you must allow the area to dry completely and the run a vacuum to restore the carpet fibers to their original texture.

This next method is fairly simple, begin by, applying a dilute solution of a solvent to the affected area on your carpet. Gently but thoroughly agitate the area until the deposit is emulsified. Lastly, thoroughly rinse the carpet with hot water extraction.
These types of stains could be difficult to remove sometimes, so if you are not very confident in removing them yourself, contact a professional for help and advice. Always make sure to test the solutions used on your carpet in an inconspicuous area first to avoid any damage to your carpet. It is also a good idea to know what kind of fibers you are dealing with before you begin applying solutions.
