Kids love to play with silly putty, and you know for a fact that it is bound to end up on your carpet. Here are a few methods that you can try and use to remove silly putty from your carpet. Remember to always test the solutions in an inconspicuous area first to avoid any damage to your carpet.
First, begin by scraping as much putty away from your carpet as possible using a spoon or dull knife. Once most of the silly putty has been removed you will need to work on the small stain that has been left behind. Begin by moistening a sponge or a small white cloth with rubbing alcohol, and the blot the affected area (If you do not have any rubbing alcohol available at home, you can try using hand sanitizer). Sometimes it may be necessary to allow the alcohol to sit on the stain for a couple minutes. Be careful not to rub the stain, rubbing might push the silly putty deeper into the carpet fibers, so it is always safe to just blot your way in from the outer edges of the stain to the center. Continue to blot the stain until all the putty has been removed. Once the putty is removed, you need to rinse the carpet, use another clean white towel dipped in cold water and just blot the affected area. Lastly, when the stain has been removed completely and the area has been rinsed, apply a clean white towel over the area and apply pressure for a couple minutes to absorb any remaining moisture. If the silly putty is being really stubborn to remove, you can spray it with WD-40. This will moisten it for an easier removal.

Next you need to allow the solvent to penetrate the interior of the deposit, so you can use a spatula to puncture the deposit, and allow it to sit on the affected area for about 10 minutes. Next, you can begin scrapping the putty and solvent from the carpet by using a dull knife. Lastly, you must rinse area with hot water extraction.
